IGR brings you the first of many game spotlights this week. Recently we had the privilege of playing one of the greatest crab simulators coming out of Australia if not the world! If you come to The Indie Games Room in July, you too might share in it's glory. Without further ado, from delightful Adelaide game developer Two Lives Left, we bring you Crabitron!

Synopsis

Crabitron is a Giant Space Crab simulation for iPad that incorporates unique touch-based gestures allowing for an unprecedented level of control. Players can crush, smash and tear space-ships apart to get at the tasty treats inside, such as people, donuts and coins. Players can also upgrade their Giant Crab in the Crab Lab to unlock unique abilities, improve strength and toughen their carapace. See crabitron.com for more details.

Our Impression

A returning indie game that has seen a lot of improvement since last year and is jam-packed with new features.

If you don’t already know about the game, here’s a quick rundown. You are a giant crab (in space) and there are many obstacles and enemies in your way. That simply won’t do.

I liked this game a lot. The controls are intuitive and the game is very easy to get into. The graphics are stunning and gameplay doesn’t get stale ever. The level spawns are randomized so you can keep playing for a different experience each time. If you like pinching ambulances, flinging eyeballs and shooting lasers, then this is the game for you.

Crabitron is due for commercial release soon SO if you’re keen to try it out before it goes on sale, be sure to come to the Indie Games Room at AVCon 2012!
