Evil Genius are returning to The Indie Games Room in July. Not only would they like to showcase the improvements they have made to last year's entrant, Gem Thief, but they would also like you to have a go at their new project! At the Indie Games Room Work In Progress Demo Day we were able to meet with the lads from Evil Genius who introduced us a little game they like to call Turtle.

Synopsis

While being transported over the Antarctic, a cargo load of precious turtle eggs falls out of a plane and into the icy waters below. Now it is up to you to help a mother turtle retrieve all of her lost eggs.

In this iPhone and Android game you must tilt the device back and forth to send your turtle flying across the slippery ice of the Antarctic, while also avoiding obstacles like shifting ice plates and sub-zero temperature water.

Turtle has several game modes, including turtle bowling and a collision course where you can practice your skills on the ice!

Our Impression

A game about a turtle? Why would you play that? Well, why WOULDN’T you?

This is one of those games that seems simple when you first start out. It gives you a false sense of security as it introduces the key aspects of gameplay, i.e. sliding the turtle and collecting eggs. Now you’ll complete a couple levels and think you've mastered the game. Then you realize that your attempts have been timed!

Beating the timer is challenging but never seems impossible. Missing the mark by those 2 to 3 seconds will get you playing this game over and over. I won’t lie; I spent a good 10 minutes on the same level trying to shave off 1 second. This game is addictive, fun and just challenging enough.

Be sure to slide on by to try it out for yourselves at the Indie Games Room 2012!
